Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays (Figure drawing)

We worked only on legs to spend more time analyzing the underlying structure.

Wednesdays (Still Life)

We continue still life drawing with 6 tones of value and sketch preliminary thumbnails to design and compose the picture. The first photo shows the use of diagonals to divide the page into thirds or fourths.

Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays (Figure drawing)

In one exercise, we draw the same pose 3 times. We spend 1 minute on a gesture, 3 minutes on a block-in, and 6 minutes on a block-in/wipe-out.

The first picture below is taken halfway through the 20 minute session to show how the drawing becomes more defined as the time extends.

Fridays (Still life)

We started with 15 minute drawing “starts” to warm up, then a 2 hour and 3 hour drawing of a still life set up. I am thinking more about composition and the relationship of several objects to each other and to the whole as I develop the drawing.
