Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays (Figure drawing)

In the Thursday class with Steve Early, we are working on understanding the underlying structure of the figure, locating the landmarks of the head box, chest box (shoulders and rib cage), and pelvis box (hip bones, pelvis) to see how these masses connect and relate to each other. In some of the exercises we drew the boxes on top of the figure to help us conceptualize the figure in three dimensional space.

Instructor example (Steve Early):

My work:

1 minute warm ups

5 minute gestures and landmarks

5 minute gestures and boxes

We also began thinking about composition through use of thumbnail sketches.

Fridays (Bargue drawing)

Instead of drawing same size I enlarged a Bargue drawing. This makes accurate proportions more of a challenge.
